How to set up your custom URL

In this tutorial we are going to show you how we created subdomain and pointed it to the Clinked servers. Please carry out the following instructions.

!IMPORTANT! Each domain name provider will do this slightly different so if you get stuck please contact your provider and let them know what you are trying to do and they will point you in the right direction.

Step 1

To do this you to login to your portal and click Account Settings > Organization & Domain.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and under the heading Custom Domain. First of all, click on the dropdown where you can select a data center closest to your location. Depending on your selection, you will be given a server address in STEP2. 



Step 2

You need to point your domain name at our servers. You need to head over to your domain name provider and add a CNAME record.  

Add a new CNAME with the name of “portal” (or any other subdomain you wish to use) and that needs to point to the server address shown. In this example it is “”. But your could be different depending on your datacenter selection in STEP1. 


Now you have created the CNAME record we need you check that it is setup correctly.

To do this visit the following checker and type in your CNAME you just created, so in our case it will “”.

If everything has gone to plan you will see the domain name listed repeatedly with a green tick next to it.

If you are not seeing this go back and check what you have typed is correct. If you are still having problems speak to your domain name provider.


Step 3

Now you have setup your subdomain to point to the Clinked server we can now connect it with your Clinked account. Enter your subdomain here and click Update.


Now that has worked, the Clinked servers will be requesting an SSL certificate on your behalf. This gives you greater protection and it will show the padlock icon in the browser window every time you visit your portal.

IMPORTANT! During busy periods this can take up to 10 minutes to generate so please be patient if it doesn’t happen instantly.
