In this tutorial, we are going to show you how we created https://portal.budex.io subdomain and pointed it to the Clinked servers.
!IMPORTANT! Each domain name provider will do this slightly different so if you get stuck please contact your provider and let them know what you are trying to do and they will point you in the right direction.
Please carry out the following instructions:
Log into your portal. Navigate to Account Settings > Organization & Domain. At the bottom of the Organization & Domain section, you'll find the heading Custom Domain. This option is off by default. To activate it, toggle the Off button to ON & complete the following:
- Choose a data center closest to your location. Clinked offers three data center locations to choose from - US West, Australia & Europe. These options provide quicker access for your custom URL to reduce latency in accessing your portal. (Note: these are not data center locations where your documentation is stored.)
Step 2Based on the location chosen, the text needed for Step 2 updates:
Next, you would then need to point your domain name at our servers. This would be through a domain name provider (a third-party website) and add a CNAME record.
An example looks like this:
Now that you have created the CNAME record, you will need to make sure it is set up properly.
To do this visit the DNS checker and type in your CNAME you just created, in our case it would be “portal.budex.io”.
If everything has gone to plan, you will see the domain name listed repeatedly with a green tick next to it. If you are not seeing this go back and check what you have typed is correct. If you are still having problems speak to your domain name provider.
Now you have set up your subdomain to point to the Clinked server we can now connect it with your Clinked account.
In the Custom Domain area of Step 3, enter your subdomain here click Update.
Now that has worked, the Clinked servers will be requesting an SSL certificate on your behalf. This gives you greater protection and it will show the padlock icon in the browser window every time you visit your portal.
IMPORTANT! During busy periods this can take up to 10 minutes to generate so please be patient if it doesn’t happen instantly.
